Gold Leaf Sign

23 karat gold leaf glass sign completed by hand. The outlines and shade are hand painted in reverse using traditional signwriting techniques before the application of gold leaf. The gold leaf is applied to the glass with a special ‘tip’ brush made from fine camel hair. A ‘size’ made with water and gelatin adheres the gold leaf to the glass before burnishing the gold leaf to increase it’s lustre to a mirror shine.
