Trompe-l’oeil Hand Painted Pinstriping

Trompe-l’oeil (French for ‘deceive the eye’) the spec from the client was to match these flat stainless steel private residence lift doors as closely as possible to the doors of the Four Seasons Hotel, Paris. Firstly the doors and surrounds were sanded and primed before being hand painted to achieve the effect of dimensional decorative moldings. Shadows and highlights were added by hand with the use of fine pinstriping brushes before a protective clear coat was added.
